This piece of pottery was hand-molded by Doña Sofía Reyes and is another excellent example of her artistic talents. Doña Sofía Reyes has been making pottery for over 75 years and continues to create her pottery utilizing the same artistic techniques of her Zapotec ancestors. This specific piece of black-clay pottery was molded then the teardrop pattern was carved out of the clay. After being molded and carving out the decorations, the piece was fired in a traditional wood burning underground kiln. Additionally, because this piece of pottery has a round bottom, even though it will stand on its own, it comes with a wicker woven stand to give this vase added support when standing.
This piece of black-clay pottery measures 4.5" Tall and 4" Wide. This small vase would be great for holding potpourri or scented soaps among other small items, and would sit well on a desk, dresser, end-table, or in the bathroom.
