This traditional bark cloth painting entitled "Pregnant Woman in Blue" is a creation of the artist Gerrald Kabuye from Uganda. In this painting, Gerrald portrays a pregnant woman kneeling before a beautiful blue vase. It is clear this woman is pregnant upon noticing the bulge in her belly but artist Gerrald also illustrates the existence of life within her belly through the blue spots that he paints upon it to symbolise the baby inside her. Gerrald goes on to depict the mysticism of life eminating from this woman through his creative use of blue waves flowing from her and around her. Artist Gerrald Kabuye paints many of his portraits to depict traditional Ugandan women because of the prominent role of the woman in the fabric of the family and society of Ugandan culture. Gerrald illustrates the natural beauty of the pregnancy, the inner strength of mothers, and the special purpose in creating new life of the traditional African woman in this painting.
This small sized bark cloth painting measures 26.5" long and 7.5" wide. This is a wonderfully unique, traditional, and originally hand-signed by the artist 'Kabuye' painting that will look absolutely amazing in a simple black frame.
