This traditional bark cloth painting entitled "Twins" is a creation of the artist Gerrald Kabuye from Uganda. Gerrald painted this portrait with orange, white and black colors because of his artistic design to bring out the natural tones of bark cloth. These two women are meant to be twin sisters, each carrying pots of water upon their heads and with their infant child wrapped to their back as is the typical method women in Africa use for carrying their babies. Each woman is wearing traditionally colorful long dresses and Gerrald portrays these women's connection by painting curved lines that wrap around their bodies and creates complimentary and alternating colors in their figures. Artist Gerrald Kabuye paints many of his portraits to depict traditional Ugandan women because of the prominent role of the woman in the fabric of the family and society of Ugandan culture. Gerrald illustrates the natural beauty and cooperative strength of these two sisters in this painting.
This small sized bark cloth painting measures 24.5" long and 7.5" wide. This is a wonderfully unique, traditional, and originally hand-signed by the artist 'Kabuye' painting that will look absolutely amazing in a simple black frame.
