Marthias Mulumba has joined KWABLA Global Links as the company's Market Representative in the region of East Africa. Based in Kampala - Uganda, Marthias assists KWABLA in researching artisans and tribal cultures and acts as an 'on-the-ground' representative for KWABLA in the region. Marthias performs follow-up wth KWABLA artisans and secures future reoders from these artisans as well as assists in communication between KWABLA and partnered artisans in the greater East Africa region. Marthias has over-come many severe challenges in his life including losing both his parents to AIDS while he was still very young and spending a number of years during his teens living alone in the slums of Kampala as a homeless 'street rat' as he has termed it. Much of the credit for helping Marthias pull himself out of his desperate situation in the streets goes to the non-profit 'Never Again' where Marthias has been given a home and meals. Today, at the age of 19, Marthias has been doing very well in his studies at Old Kampala Senior Secondary School. He was recently chosen as a special representative from his school to go on a study abroad trip to Tanzania, Rwanda and Congo where he met with other students and learned about the politics, history and cultures of these countries. Also, Marthias has been working on writing his life story as a courageous lesson for other lost youths. Marthias is an intelligent, confident, ambitious, hard-working and responsible young man.
