Sharlym and Keith Chino work together to create beautifully hand-carved, textured, and glazed ceramic pottery of the Acoma Native American culture. The Chino's pottery is of a more contemporary style than that of traditional Acoma pottery but this unique style still reflects the images, symbols, and stories of the traditional Acoma culture. Sharlym and Keith Chino were born and raised among the beautiful landscapes of the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. Both were taught pottery by previous generations of family potters and artists. Additionally, Keith Chino studied Fine Art at the Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kansas where he learned more advanced artistic techniques like the creation of mixed colors and the texturing methods used in the Chinos' pottery. A number of artistic awards have been won by the Chinos; including, First Prize at the Colorado Indian Market in 1994; First Prize at the New Mexico State Fair in 1995, 2000-02, and 2005; as well as Best of Show at the New Mexico State Fair in 2005, just to name a few. Sharlym and Keith Chino are most well known for their portrayals of the Acoma Pueblo landscape in their pottery.

Each piece of pottery created by the Chinos is hand-carved, hand-textured, and hand-glazed with their original designs. All pieces are painted with hand-mixed glazes, which make some of the colors completely unique and impossible to duplicate. Additionally, the Chinos display traditional Acoma symbols in their pottery. Examples of traditional Acoma symbols include: the fish which represents peace, the lizard which represents good luck, and the parrot bird which represents beauty and wealth, and of course the landscape representing the lands of the Acoma people; all of these symbols are typical in the Acoma culture. This combination of contemporary techniques with traditional symbols and landscapes makes each piece of Chino created pottery a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art.
